Yesterday was the last official day of my 2019-2020 school year, and this last quarter was a real doozie! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my students got their first taste of remote learning I taught my art classes over the internet. Though very different from the traditional classroom, all in all, it was a very positive experience for all. To celebrate the occasion, I created a short iMovie (my first) of some of my students' works with an upbeat, royalty-free electronic music track as the audio backdrop. Their featured work was largely comprised of found art, creative food concoctions, Q-Tip paintings and photography composition projects. And, coincidentally, our Goldendoodle, Liam, makes a cameo appearance at the beginning of the video! The use of royalty-free music in this video got me thinking of how I might incorporate something like that in possible audio review videos down the line. Yes, the production of audio reviews is something that I am actually considering featuring now and again at Prairie Audio! I got a small taste of making online videos this last quarter. For instance, if you're curious how my art students submitted their work online, I created and shared a video on how to do exactly that. Students viewed it and others via links in Google Classroom, where their assignments were posted and they could submit their work electronically. You may view that instructional video here. So, what will I do over the summer? I'm glad you asked! First off, I will finish off and submit my review of the Gold Note PA-10 monoblock amplifiers to Positive Feedback (www.positive-feedback.com), and then I've got some projects to complete around the house, including wrapping up a project where Belle and I have been putting down river rock around two sides of our home. We already set over 5,000 lbs. in the front garden and partway down the side, but we have another ton or so to go. No doubt, I will continue to learn some technology and light programming for the upcoming year where, in addition to teaching art, I will teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). I'll be exercising to trim down and, of course, doing some fine, outdoor dining with Belle. There will also likely be another audio review or two, as well as a trip to Florida sometime. And, of course, there will be some extended music listening sessions and TV show binge watching in the man cave! All in all, it should be a wonderful and productive summer. Stay safe and have a blessed season!
